Hello and Happy New Year! Let me get straight to the point. I have decided to loc my hair! I have been thinking about doing this for a while now. After watching a hundred(literally) videos on Youtube and doing some research, I am ready to begin this journey. Because I was primarily wearing my hair in twists, the transition to locs shouldn't be too difficult for me.
Here are the details on how I started:
- I deep conditioned, washed, and air-dried my hair in braids(applied some Vitamin E oil to each section).
- After air drying for about 1 hour, I proceeded to twist my hair.
- Before twisting, I applied a nickle amount of vitamin E oil to each section.
- I did small(not mini) twists and twisted clockwise.
- I did block parts and tried to do it in a brick format
- I have a total of 161 starter locs which were installed on 1/4/2018
To moisturize, I will:
- spritz my hair with water which has a few drops of lavender oil in it
- apply vitamin E oil to each section
- Oil my scalp when necessary
They shrunk a lot and aren't that full. But I KNOW they will probably shrink even more and plump up nicely. Length won't be an issue either. |
I'm not sure when my first wash will be, but it will most likely be in no longer than 4 weeks. I will most likely re-twist then as well, but I will keep you all posted on that. I don't want to "plan" too much and just go with the flow.
I am excited for this journey and can't wait to see the transformation of my locs.
I will most definitely document everything on this blog so stay tuned!
I am so excited 😆! I can’t wait to see your hair progress a year from now! ❤️

DeleteOMG! So many people are now jumping on the Loc bandwagon. Welcome.
ReplyDeletelol, there's a bandwagon now? I had no idea. I always loved the look of locs and had fun with my loose natural hair so I'm ready to loc it up. Thank you!!
