"It comes with the territory and just how I LOVE MY HAIR.. I love shrinkage too!"
So, I have been relaxed for a while and NEVER in my adult life embraced my Natural hair.
Before big chopping, I knew what my natural hair would look like and was prepared to deal with the extremely tight coils which results in extreme shrinkage.
It's my hair..it shrinks. What can I do? Yes, I can braid, band, twist, blow-dry or straighten it to elongate the curls. But the only reason why I even braid my hair after washing is to avoid tangles. I came to the point in my hair journey where I don't need to "show off" my length. As long as I know I have some hair on my head, I couldn't care less about what others think. As a matter of fact, I don't ever plan on straightening my hair.
I love shrinkage. One minute I could have ear length hair and in a matter of minutes it will be at my shoulders.
It is what it is and I embrace it.
OMG! That is exactly how I feel. I love my shrinkage. Yes, I do hate those unsolicited questions from people, "Did you cut your hair?", I just laugh and pull at my hair..and watch their eyes get big.

If you are serious about being natural you have to learn to accept shrinkage. Otherwise you will go crazy making your hair do what it doesn't want to do.
ReplyDeleteExactly. I actually like it now. Doesn't make sense to be battling your hair.
ReplyDeleteThis is something I am learning to love right now! Shrinkage is so funny, it really isn't as bad as I originally thought it really was, I am learning to work with it and even enjoy it. I love that it offers you a different look on a regular basis.
